Morning Glory at 30: Deluxe Edition Adds Five Unplugged Mixes

The Morning Glory 30th anniversary deluxe edition arrived on 3 October 2025. The package adds five newly mixed unplugged tracks to the original album. Noel Gallagher produced the mixes himself, thirty years after he wrote the songs.

The five tracks are Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Acquiesce and Champagne Supernova. The new mixes strip each song back toward voice and guitar. Fans hear the melodies without the wall of electric sound that defined 1995.

At heart, unplugged versions suit material built on strong, simple melodies. The new mixes expose the chord changes fans have sung for thirty years. Nothing in these recordings hides behind volume, and nothing needs to.

Two tracks arrived early, ahead of the full edition. Acquiesce (unplugged) came out in July 2025 as the first taste. Morning Glory (unplugged) followed on 24 September 2025, days before the release.

Noel Gallagher produced the mixes with engineer Callum Marinho. The pair worked at Noel’s Lone Star Sound studio in London. The sessions gave the chief songwriter full control over his own catalogue, with no label deadline shaping the results.

New artwork on an old street

Original designer Brian Cannon shot the new artwork on Berwick Street in London. He re-created the 1995 album cover on the same street, thirty years on. The two pedestrians from the original sleeve stay absent this time.

The empty street gives the reissue its quiet joke. Fans know the original cover by heart, down to the two figures walking through it. Cannon trusted those fans to notice the missing pair at once.

Berwick Street still draws fans for photographs at the exact spot. The reissue sends another wave of them there this year.

For buyers, formats ran to 2CD, 3LP and digital editions at release. Retailers also carried exclusive colour variants of the vinyl pressing. Collectors chased the variants while casual fans simply streamed the mixes.

For context, the original album keeps setting records of its own. Morning Glory has sold over 22 million copies worldwide since 1995. It stands as the most streamed 1990s album in the UK, a title it defends every single week.

The deluxe edition re-entered the Billboard 200 at No.144 in October 2025. A thirty year old album rarely troubles that American chart at all. The unplugged mixes gave buyers across the Atlantic a fresh reason to return.

Still, the reissue market usually rewards packaging over content. Labels sell anniversary editions on coloured vinyl and replica artwork alone, year after year. This edition leads with recordings, which hands long term fans a fairer deal.

Meanwhile, the anniversary fed straight into the reunion story. The deluxe edition landed while Live ‘25 played its later legs around the world. Fans treated the reissue as a bridge between the reunion shows and whatever comes next.

The mixes travel well in the streaming era. Quiet recordings suit playlists, headphones and late night listening in a way stadium rock rarely does. The two early singles carried the campaign through the autumn on that logic.

For younger fans, the anniversary handed them a fresh way into the album. Many listeners discovered Morning Glory through parents, playlists and older siblings. The unplugged mixes gave that generation versions cut for headphones and quiet rooms.

Anniversary editions usually ask fans to buy the same record again. This one at least hands them five recordings they had never heard. That difference explains why the package charted instead of sinking quietly.
