🎸 Tour Guide

Oasis released seven studio albums between 1994 and 2008, and every one reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Creation Records put out the first three, and the band released the last four on their own label, Big Brother.

Alongside the studio records sit two live albums, three major compilations and a 2025 box set that gathers the whole catalogue. The Live ‘27 tour draws most of its set from the first two albums. The tour’s setlist tracker shows exactly which of their songs made the cut.

For context, the band’s chart run peaked commercially in the mid-nineties, when demand for the Knebworth shows drew about 2.5 million ticket applications. The records below explain that demand. The later sections then show how the same records power the reunion set.

Two distinct eras run through the seven records, and the label change draws the line between them. Creation Records released the first three albums, then closed. Big Brother, the label the band founded, released everything from Standing on the Shoulder of Giants onwards.

Noel Gallagher wrote every song on Definitely Maybe, and the debut became the fastest-selling debut album in British chart history on release. Official Charts confirms the record, which stood until Arctic Monkeys passed it in 2006. The album returned to number 1 in September 2024, when the 30th anniversary edition rode the reunion announcement.

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? spent ten weeks at number 1 and turned Oasis into a global act. Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger anchor the record, and both songs still close out arguments about the band’s best work. Its 19× Platinum BPI award covers 5.7 million certified UK units alone.

Released on a Thursday, Be Here Now sold 696,000 copies in the three selling days of its first chart week. Official Charts and the BBC report that figure, and it made the album the fastest-selling record in British chart history at the time. The album also finished 1997 as the year’s biggest seller in the UK, with 1.47 million copies sold.

Creation Records closed before Standing on the Shoulder of Giants arrived, so the album launched Big Brother in February 2000. Founding members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan left during the sessions, and Noel Gallagher re-recorded their parts himself. Even so, the record holds a first: Little James gave Liam Gallagher his first songwriting credit on an Oasis album.

Songwriting duties opened up on Heathen Chemistry, where Liam Gallagher contributed three songs and Gem Archer and Andy Bell added one each. Songbird became the first Oasis single that Liam wrote, and all four singles from the album reached the UK top five. BPI certifies the record at 4× Platinum.

By 2005, critics greeted Don’t Believe the Truth as the band’s best album in a decade, and Dave Sardy shared the desk with Noel Gallagher. Lyla and The Importance of Being Idle both topped the UK singles chart, giving the band their seventh and eighth number 1 singles. The album itself became the sixth straight Oasis studio record to enter at number 1.

In 2008, Dave Sardy ran the sessions for Dig Out Your Soul at Abbey Road Studios in London, and the band cut a groove-led record. The Shock of the Lightning led the singles, and the album gave Oasis a seventh consecutive UK number 1 studio album. In August 2009 Noel Gallagher quit the band backstage at Rock en Seine near Paris, and no studio album has followed.

On the singles chart, the run behind these albums set a record of its own, with 22 consecutive UK top 10 singles. Guinness World Records logs the run from Live Forever in 1994 to The Shock of the Lightning in 2008. Guinness also named Oasis the most successful act in the United Kingdom between 1995 and 2005.

Oasis live albums

Familiar to Millions captures the first of two Wembley Stadium shows on 21 July 2000, and it arrived in six formats at once. The album peaked at number 5 in the UK, a reminder that live records rarely match studio sales. BPI certifies it Platinum, and its tracklist reads like a greatest hits set played at full volume.

On record, the Wembley album hides one quirk: Liam Gallagher let the crowd sing the Wonderwall choruses that night. Producers therefore mixed in vocal takes from a Yokohama Arena show from March 2000 for parts of that song. The swap stays invisible unless you know it happened.

Twenty-five years later, Knebworth 1996 finally gave those two August nights an official live album. About 125,000 fans filled Knebworth Park near Stevenage on each night, and 250,000 attended across the weekend. The album reached number 4 in the UK in November 2021 and earned a BPI Gold award.

Compilations and box sets

Beyond the studio albums, Oasis compilations carry unusual weight, because Noel Gallagher treated B-sides as album-grade songs. Three collections matter most, and each one tells a different part of the story.

In 1998, Noel Gallagher loaded the early singles with B-sides strong enough for an album of their own, and The Masterplan gathers fourteen of them. Acquiesce, Talk Tonight and Half the World Away all sit here rather than on studio albums. The collection peaked at number 2 in 1998 and now holds a 3× Platinum BPI award.

Eight years later, Stop the Clocks saw Noel Gallagher personally pick eighteen tracks after he cut a longlist of more than thirty songs. Sir Peter Blake created the cover, nearly forty years after he designed the Sgt. Pepper sleeve for The Beatles. Westlife held the album at number 2 in 2006, and BPI now certifies it 5× Platinum.

Time Flies… 1994-2009 collects all 27 UK singles, with Sunday Morning Call hidden at the end of disc two. The set became the 900th album ever to top the UK Albums Chart when it entered at number 1 in June 2010. Meanwhile, its 8× Platinum award makes it the band’s third biggest seller in the UK.

In the reunion era, Definitely Maybe returned to number 1 with its 30th anniversary edition in 2024. The Masterplan reached number 2 again on its 25th anniversary reissue in 2023. Morning Glory received a separate 30th anniversary deluxe edition in October 2025, outside the box set.

Most recently, the Complete Studio Album Collection arrived on 22 August 2025, during the Live ‘25 reunion tour. The box gathers all seven studio albums plus The Masterplan across eight CDs or fourteen vinyl discs. Fans who want the catalogue in one purchase now have an official route, gold Amazon editions aside.

The albums behind the Live ‘27 setlist

No official Live ‘27 setlist exists yet, so the 2025 reunion order is the baseline for the expected Live ‘27 setlist. Morning Glory supplies eight songs, Definitely Maybe six, Be Here Now two, The Masterplan four, and Heathen Chemistry one. Whatever and Fade Away complete the 23 as a standalone single and a B-side track.

In July 2026 Official Charts published its 70th anniversary all-time list, and Morning Glory ranked third overall with 6.2 million UK chart units. Only two compilations sit above it, Queen’s Greatest Hits and ABBA’s Gold, so no studio album in British chart history has sold more. A separate breakdown covers how Morning Glory became the biggest UK studio album, ahead of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper.

Worldwide, the album has sold over 22 million copies, a figure The Guardian reported from the band’s own camp. That scale explains why the reunion shows treat the record as the centre of the set. Later albums still contribute, with Stand by Me and Little by Little holding regular places.

Fans can follow the balance city by city as the tour unfolds from May 2027. Each show page records the songs played, so the album share of the set stays visible across all 42 dates. Expect the first two albums to hold their share from the opening night onwards.

Where to start with Oasis albums

For a first listen, start with Definitely Maybe: the debut still sounds like a band kicking the door in. Supersonic, Live Forever and Slide Away carry the record, and Noel Gallagher wrote every track. Play it front to back before you touch anything else.

Next, play (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, the bigger and slower record that filled stadiums. Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger lead it, and Champagne Supernova closes the album in style. Most fans rank it first, and the sales figures back them up.

After that, take The Masterplan, because the B-sides reveal how much strong material the early singles carried. Acquiesce opens the collection, and the title track closes it with one of Noel Gallagher’s finest songs. From there, the rest of the catalogue opens up in release order.

The catalogue also frames the tour itself, since the Live ‘27 shows sell a story that starts with these records. Fans chasing the next chapter can follow the new Oasis album page for confirmed news only.
